Rick has several years in student ministry and currently teaches grades 6 – 8 in Katy, TX. He feels that now is the time when God is calling him into youth ministry in a greater capacity. His passion for youth ministry is evident in his approach to teaching and in the way he communicates with young people. Rick is excited to be a part of The Crossing at Cypress and anxiously awaits what God has in store for him, his family, and the church body.
“Don't let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12
Rick has a heart for youth that has been growing deep within him for more than 15 years. He believes that the youth of today are looking for truth, goodness, and beauty in the world around them and that those can only be found through the examination of the Bible. He teaches in a way that is Biblically sound while being culturally relevant to the world of youth. He understands that the Jr. High and Sr. High school years are some of the most critical years in the life of a child and that through love, patience, guidance, and compassion he can help shape the hearts of the youth that enter into The Crossing at Cypress.
In his high school years Rick served as a youth leader in the youth ministry at Highland Village First Baptist Church (The Village Church) in Highland Village, TX. He later served as the Assistant Youth Pastor at Christ the Great Shepherd Church in Sanger, TX and as the Head of Youth Leader Ministry at Cornerstone Church in Okemos, MI.
Rick has been happily married to his wife, Mindy, since 1998. They have three beautiful daughters: Adassah (15), Rebecca (14), and Zoe (11). The family also includes Bella and Paloma, the family’s two dogs. Rick is a diehard Texans fan and spends his free time volunteering, writing, and networking.
